Sarai makes me smile all the time. The other day I started writing down some of the funny things she has said and done. Some of them I got pictures of, but some of them I will just have to tell you about.
Two weeks ago, the youth at church had a HUGE yard sale. So we went by Friday night to check out the goods and see if there was anything we couldn't live without. Well, we found this great Fisher Price table for Sarai and it was only $5! I was so excited! In the picture you can see the table off to the left. Of course, usually the chairs are on either side of the table. But Sarai decided to do some rearranging and this is where she set up her chairs. Perfectly side by side, not even facing the TV. Do you think I might have a perfectionist on my hands :-)
Any time she eats spaghetti it makes me laugh. No matter how hard I try, she still makes a huge mess. But at least she looks cute doing it! And this round mommy made a booboo. I forgot to put her in a red shirt. I accidently left her in a white one. Thank goodness for Shout!
Walking down the hall from putting laundry away I found Sarai lying like this: surrounded by all her toys, reading a book, using her rubber blocks as a head rest. Goofy girl!
So you have to look real hard to see this one. But notice the blue mark on her forehead? Well, I now have learned that she cannot color unsupervised. She walked into the kitchen the other day with a blue crayon in her hand and a beautiful blue mark on her face. She also colored on her shirt, on our microwave stand and all over her new table. Of course, it is Crayola so it all washed out. But I laughed for awhile about this one! I couldn't even get mad at her for coloring on the furniture!
Watching Sesame Street while standing with both feet in her Shape Sorter Drum. Who knew you could fit two feet in it?!
Here are some other funny things she has done/said recently:
- While in Panera Bread, Sarai pointed at a man with a full beard and long hair calling him Jesus. Luckily he hadn't come in the door yet.
- Sarai rubs her nose with the corner of her blanket as a soothing thing when we rock before nap and bedtime. The other day I caught her telling her baby ni-night and rubbing her baby's nose with the corner of the blanket. How adorable is that!
- We have new carpet in our rental home and with new carpet, you get these bally things all over the place. Well, they are continually clogging up our vacuum so Mike has to turn it over and dig out all the carpet balls and lint before we can continue to vacuum. Mike found Sarai the other day with her toy vacuum upside down, inspecting the bottom. Monkey see, monkey do!
- She LOVES to do anything that is helpful: make the bed, unload the dishwasher, wash and fold laundry. And she tells you when she is doing it and it sounds like this, "Elping Mommy! Elping Mommy! Elping Daddy! Elping Daddy!" We will have to work on that "H" sound but for now, that is terribly cute.
I don't care what you tell me, but I'm convinced Sarai started talking way early for her age and she just keeps adding more and more words. Here are some of our favorite things she says: "Badylug (ladybug)," "Me scuse (excuse me)," and "Budlights (butterflies)." Now this threw me for a loop the other day. She put together two four-word sentences! "Yeah, I did it!" and "Mommy hold that bottle." Who knows whats next!
One of the things that I love about our neighborhood is we have a great park just four blocks from our house. And Sarai practically wakes up in the morning asking to go for a walk, for mommy to push, and to go sliding. Here are a few pics of us enjoying our new found afternoon activity.
Nana inspired me to start cooking with Sarai more. So far we have done Blueberry Muffins and then we made Chocolate Chip Cookies last night. Yum yum!

Well, that's all I have for now. I hope you laughed with me at my 21 month old because she is definately a joy in my life. It is hard to believe that 2 will be just shortly around the corner. Happy Mother's Day everyone and enjoy your kiddos!
